The closing ceremony of the Barça Academy World Cup 2026 was held today, marking a record-breaking edition with 192 teams taking part and a total of 690 matches played. Of those, 14 teams reached the finals in their respective categories (both boys and girls) which were held throughout the day.
This year’s ambassadors were Joan Garcia, goalkeeper for the men’s first team, and Cata Coll, goalkeeper for the women’s first team. As part of the 13th edition, participants had the chance to meet Coll at the opening ceremony, while Garcia was present at the trophy presentation during the closing event.
The ceremony was also attended by FC Barcelona board member Josep Ignasi Macià, Barça Academy director Benny Megreli, and sporting director Sergi Barjuan. With the awards presented, the curtain falls on another edition of the Barça Academy World Cup, once again delivering memorable moments both on and off the pitch.
The winners
The finals were packed with excitement and showcased impressive talent. In the U8 category, Belgium beat Barcelona Blau 1–0, while Croatia were crowned champions in the U10 category after defeating Ciudad de México Blau 3–1. Among the boys’ teams, Barcelona Blau won the U12 final against France Blau (1–0), and Zürich claimed the U14 title with a 3–0 victory over Barcelona Grana. In the U16 category, players had the chance to contest the final at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, where Barcelona Blau defeated Italy 3–0 to lift the trophy.
In the girls’ categories, Japan Blau were crowned U12 champions after a 2–1 win over Australia, while Perfeccionament beat Italy 3–1 to take the U14 title.
A diverse group of international winners once again highlights the global reach of the competition.
Record edition
A total of 28 countries were represented by 41 Barça Academy and Barça Camps delegations. Over four days of competition, 690 matches were played, with 2,501 goals scored, making for an average of 3.62 per game.
Once again, the club has showcased the international scope and diversity that define the Barça Academy World Cup, with 2,142 boys and girls from around the world taking part at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The club’s methodology was reflected in the playing style and identity of all participating teams in this 13th edition.
