Known by everyone as Lolo, Luis Manuel Cáceres is about to participate in the 13th Barça Academy World Cup for the final time. A journey that began at the age of five years old that is now coming to an end after representing Barça Academy República Dominicana since 2016.  

Lolo has developed under the Club's methodology and values since his first edition. A loyal, consistent and committed player, he has experienced every edition as a unique opportunity to learn and dream big.

Developing between the sticks

His first experience at the Barça Academy World Cup came in 2016, when he played as a defender. That initial adventure didn't end up as he would have hoped, but it marked a turning point, as Lolo found his position as goalkeeper. He has since gone on to defend the Barça Academy República Dominicana colours in all subsequent editions, becoming established as a key member of the team.

One of the toughest moments of his journey came in 2024 when a defeat on penalties to Dubai after a lively final left him with a bittersweet feeling that he would look to put right in his final edition.

More than a tournament

His journey is also explained by stories off the field. During one of the editions, Lolo acted as an impromptu cultural ambassador by showing players from Dubai how to dance merengue. Testament that the Barça Academy World Cup is about much more than football – it's spending time together, exchanging moments and experiences that go beyond the pitch.

Family always by his side

Since 2015, his parents have travelled with their sons on this international adventure. It was first his older brother and then Lolo, with the Barça Academy World Cup becoming somewhat of a family tradition.

Now, Lolo is ready to take to the pitch for this final edition with the same passion as if it was his first. Given his experience, maturity in goal and motivation to end the story in the right way, there is still one more good chapter of his blaugrana dream to experience.
