This 12th edition of the Barça Academy World Cup is featuring the children of celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment, adding a special touch to the event.
Dani Džeko, son of the well-known striker Edin Džeko, who currently plays for Fenerbahçe, is once again playing for Istanbul’s U8 Blue team, repeating his experience of the tournament. Meanwhile, Davi Santos, who joined the team at the last minute, is the son of Brazilian defender Diego Carlos—formerly of Sevilla and currently at Aston Villa—and is playing with the U10 Grana team from Istanbul.
In the girls' event, we have Roberta García Lara (U14 Girls), and also her brother Mariano García Lara (U14 Boys), children of former Mexican footballer Luis García Postigo, who shone with clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Real Sociedad and Pumas, and is now a commentator on various TV networks. Both children are representing the Barça Academy Mexico City.
Lastly, Gael Cardona, a player on Mexico’s U12 team, is the son of Manolo Cardona, a well-known Colombian actor and star of the Netflix series Medusa.
Having all these illustrious names on the pitch has added even more prestige to this major international event.
