The Barça Escola Handball was created to transmit FC Barcelona’s values to other sports such as handball.
The Barça Escola Handball is the official FC Barcelona handball school and is aimed at boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old, with the goal of providing players with the basic concepts of handball so that they can face future sports challenges successfully, as well as instilling the values represented by FC Barcelona: humility, effort, ambition, respect, and teamwork.
All players train 2 days a week and play matches every 15 days. In addition to these internal league matches, players have the option to participate in different events and tournaments organized throughout the season.
ORGANIZATION AND METHODOLOGY
The Barça Escola Handball consists of three stages based on the age of the students:
- Initiation (6 to 8 years old)
- Training (8 to 10 years old)
- Pre-competition (10 to 12 years old)
Work groups are formed with a maximum of 12–14 players per team so that players can enjoy greater participation during the sessions.
The Barça Escola Handball follows the same training methodology as FC Barcelona’s youth handball teams. There are 2 coaches for each group and coordinators who supervise the proper functioning of the training sessions and activities related to Barça Escola Barcelona.
SCHEDULE
The Barça Escola Handball begins activities in October and ends in June, following the school calendar.
TRAINING DAYS AND INTERNAL LEAGUE
Training sessions at Barça Escola Handball take place 2 afternoons a week, depending on the assigned shift. The internal league is played every 15 days on Sunday mornings.
- Training schedule: From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. or from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
FACILITIES
Training sessions are held at the Centre Esportiu Municipal Arístides Maillol Les Corts, located at Martí i Franquès Street nº 19-21 in Barcelona.
Match days are played at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper facilities in Sant Joan Despí or at the same training facility.
WHO CAN ENROLL IN BARÇA ESCOLA?
To join Barça Escola Handball, players must pass entrance tests, and it is a mandatory condition that both the family and the player reside in Catalonia.
FRIENDLIES, TOURNAMENTS AND EVENTS
Apart from the internal league of Barça Escola Handball, which takes place on Sundays, the school also participates in other activities, friendly matches, and events of a competitive and educational nature.
These are matches where Barça Escola Handball teams play against different clubs from all over Catalonia. These events, tournaments, and friendly competitions are held both at the club’s facilities and outside.
The formats of these events may vary, and Barça Escola Handball participates with teams or mixed groups of players.
