The Barça Academy World Cup presented by Allianz 2023 ended today Thursday with the five finals on pitch 7 at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in the U8, U10, U12 and U14 mixed categories, while the Estadi Johan Cruyff hosted the U14 girls final and the trophy presentation by the patrons of the competition, two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas and Barça striker Ansu Fati, together with the club’s first vice-president for sport, Rafa Yuste. 

With 50% more players than 2022, a total of 1,660 athletes from 152 teams and 34 different Barça Academies and Barça Academy Camps, there were no fewer than 19 different countries represented this year.

There was a wide spread of different winners across the age groups. The U8 competition was won by Barça Escola Blau, winning the final 5-1 against Barça Escola Groc, and the same team won the U10 tourney as well, defeating Barça Academy Fukuoka by the same score. 

The U12 competition was won by Barça Academy Camps Italy for the second year in a row, beating Barça Academy Warsaw 2-0 in the final. The liveliest final was in U14, where Barça Escola beat the Barça Academy Dominicana Blau, playing in a final for the first time ever, 3-1 on penalties after the game had ended 4-4. 

The first ever girls U12 event saw Barça Academy Japan finish top of the round-robin group, just ahead of Barça Escola Barcelona. And the U14 girls final, played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, was won by Barça Escola Perfeccionament Barcelona, 3-2 on penalties against Barça Academy Japan after regulation time had ended 1-1. 

That brought an end to the massive series of 533 games in which the 152 teams totalled 2,374 goals, an average of 4.06 a match.
