Barça Academy Warsaw celebrates tenth anniversary

The commemoration also had a tournament for 300 players from Poland's leading clubs

Warsaw is the first European city to have a Barça Academy that’s celebrated its tenth anniversary. Until now, the only FC Barcelona schools to have reached the milestone are those in Cairo (Egypt), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Fukuoka (Japan). The main event happened this weekend on the Barça Academy Warsaw grounds in the Polish capital, which also included a tournament for 300 players from the country’s leading clubs.

The commemoration was attended by the world director of Barça Academy, Carles Martín, and the International Project Director for Barça Academy in Europa, the Middle East and Africa, Marc Sabaté, who had some words for the guest families and athletes, as well as the manager of Barça Academy Warsaw, Wiesław Wilczyński, and the president of Warsaw, Dariusz Mioduski.

The footballers were all born in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and there were great results for the Barça schools. The 2013 category was won by Barça Academy Warsaw Grana, and second place in the 2011 and 2012 tournaments went to Barça Academy Warsaw Blau and third place in 2011 to Barça Academy Warsaw Blau. The 2011 competition was won by Polonia Warszawa and the 2012 one by Jagiellonia Bialystok.
